NL4Kids provides Dutch language classes (group courses and private lessons) for children.
It is important for children to speak the language of the country they live in, not only to be able to participate in school but also for cultural integration. The NL4Kids courses help children with the process of settling down in The Netherlands.
NL4Kids is aimed at young (bilingual) children between the age of four and twelve years old who speak little Dutch, no Dutch or not enough Dutch at home. NL4Kids will put these young bilingual children in better touch with the Dutch language and culture. This can be through playful lessons in small groups (the NL4Kids group courses) or through private lessons in your own home.
Families from abroad who come to live in Holland for a long period of time nowadays choose more often to put their children into a Dutch basis school instead of an international school. Various research shows that these young children need more support and practice with the Dutch language and customs than the Dutch schools can offer. Following a NL4ids course will also make it easier for children to understand and participate in Dutch basis school lessons.
The differences in Dutch language skills between Dutch children and children from abroad are large. Those differences are often amplified when the children grow older. Especially in the area of vocabulary. Therefore there is a need to work at an early stage on the vocabulary and practical understanding of the language.
