For young children, moving to a new country is a major upheaval. They need to get used to a new home, make new friends and learn a new language. If the children find it difficult settling down their parents will find their own moving issues even harder. Adapting, fitting in and feeling at home have a lot to do with language and culture. The moment you are able to express yourself with words and communicate is the moment that you feel connected and you feel a sense of belonging.
The NL4Kids goal is to help children learn in a safe and trusted environment. A surrounding based on openness, cultural diversity and cooperation. NL4Kids finds it very important to not only stimulate children in a challenging way, but also to support and appreciate them in a child’s friendly surrounding to build on their self-confidence and sense of well-being.
Our main goal is to improve the children’s Dutch language skills and acquaint them with Dutch customs in a playful way. Children learn best and quickest in safe surroundings and through meaningful situations. This is why the lessons are active with lots of repetitive games in small groups that tune in to the child’s level of perception.
Besides improving the children’s Dutch basis school performances, the courses will also help the children feel more at home in The Netherlands and integrate with the Dutch culture. For this reason children that can communicate in Dutch will naturally connect with Dutch speaking children and will make friends more easily.
